Mike's Funeral wishes

In life, Mike had very firm ideas of how his life was lived, and his funeral day was going to be no exception to this. His first choice would have been to leave his body to medical science, and with this, in mind, there would have been no 'official' funeral. Whilst there would have been no funeral, he would have liked a memorial wake where we could have all got together and had a true celebration of his wonderful life. Unfortunately, during these strange times, none of this is possible.

His revised wishes were that there will still be no mourners attend the funeral, but at the time of his cremation (4PM UK Time), he wanted people to raise a glass and think fondly of him. He will be remembered by many for his cheeky grin and easy sense of humour. In keeping with his humour, he chose to enter the chapel to Bon Jovi's Blaze of Glory! A large part of Mike's life was his work, and after a hard week's graft, if he could get an 'Early Finish Friday' and a pint on the way home, he was content, and it was a good start to his weekend. Mike considered by picking the day and time; everyone could come together for his final 'Early Finish Friday'.

He requested, Jayne, Kate and James meet at a later date to spread his ashes on his beloved Tamborine Mountain in Queensland, Australia.

Wherever you are around the world, however long or short Mike was a part of your life; whether he was family, friend or colleague, we hope you can get together safely with as many friends and family (as is allowed) and reminisce. If you can take a photo and upload it on this site of you honouring Mike's memory, it will help the family feel that we have all been together and give us some comfort.

Family flowers, donations if desired to The Christie Hospital.
